If you’re just joining us, this week your regularly scheduled Registered Weapon is being pre-empted by Frankie and FELIX, a look at our heroes’ early years (with apologies to Bill Watterson). As we all learned in school, the larval form of a cash register is a calculator. More Frankie and FELIX on Wednesday!
And if you really are just joining us and are baffled and/or intrigued, here’s the scoop: Frank Gorman is LA’s toughest homicide detective. FELIX is a robotic cash register. Crime doesn’t pay…and Justice is all out of quarters. Or something like that. Start from the very beginning, or check out the full archive. Happy reading!

apologies? don’t you mean with love & affection? one of my prized possessions is a Calvin & Hobbes collection of some of the Sunday strips. It has a copy of the uncolored page next to the finished one with all the pencil marks and corrections on the original. it’s really interesting to see how the color and flattening of black hid some of the subtle things that Watterson put into every page. I don’t think there will ever be another comic strip as good as Calvin and Hobbes.
Ah Calvin and Hobbes montage…I freakin’ love it.
