Registered Weapon hits the streets

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Extra-huge thanks to Rosscott of the excellent webcomic The System for running a guest strip by our own dear Gardner. The System is great stuff day in and day out, so head over there and be amazed.

And if you came here from The System, we hope you enjoy our tale of a cash register who became a robot who became a cop. Start from the beginning for the full story, or check out the Cast page for the quick lowdown.

You must have comics

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Hey, Gardner here–

My solo comic Lil’ Gardner & Robot Jesus is semi-relaunching today, with hand-drawn comics and less insane continuity. So if you’ve checked it out before, give it another try. If you haven’t, now’s the perfect time! I’m nowhere near as good an artist as Dave, but I am half as good a writer as me and Chris. Enjoy!

FutureHate/LoveMachine

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Speaking of April Fool’s, my favorite gag yesterday was the Nine Inch Nails album announcement. Obviously it’s a dig at Chris Cornell’s Timbaland-produced Scream, but like the best April Fool’s jokes, it’s halfway to a great idea. I would actually kind of like to hear what Reznor and Timbaland would cook up together–after all, Trent has already worked with Dr. Dre and listed Public Enemy as an inspiration in the Pretty Hate Machine liner notes.

Even more than that, though, #8 on the fake tracklist (“Even Closer (featuring Justin Timberlake and Maynard James Keenan)”) has me thinking that a NIN/JT collaboration would be the best thing ever. Either “Justin Sings the NIN Songbook” (in particular I think he’d rip it up on “Closer,” “Only” and “Head Like a Hole”) or a full Reznor-produced Timberlake album. Songs like “SexyBack” aren’t too far removed from Reznor’s sprightlier stuff anyway, and Timberlake clearly has an affinity for the kind of gothic electro-funk that Reznor can whip up when he’s in a good mood. Come on, music industry. Make this happen.

Damn you and your evil dinosorcery

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Hey, if you like the ridiculousness on display here in Registered Weapon, then I think you’re gonna love The Chronicles of Solomon Stone, the new webcomic from Chris Sims, Matthew Allen Smith and Benjamin Birdie. I’m not even going to try to describe it except to say that it involves a dinosaur wearing a wizard’s hat. For more info, check out this interview with Sims, where he was kind enough to show RW some love without even being asked/threatened.

Well, we had a good run

Monday, September 14th, 2009

We thought we had the Murder Mystery Webcomic Championship all sewn up, but now ringers Kevin Church and TJ Kirsch have arrived to show us all how it’s done with She Died in Terrebonne: A Sam Kimimura Mystery. New strips every day this week, then every Thursday thereafter. Go check it out!
